Vinaros is a town orientated towards the sea with its pleasant promenade, marina and harbour with fishing fleet and numerous restaurants that serve the locally caught fish and famous king prawns.
There are some beautiful beaches in the actual centre of town plus a lot of smaller ones either side of the centre, where people have built a number of urbanisations with holiday homes. But Vinaros is predominately Spanish and attracts visitors from Barcelona and inland Spain alike. It is rarely packed though, the only really busy periods are August, when the whole of Spain is on holiday, and during the fiestas. The Vinaros carnival which is held in February should be mentioned. It is really good fun, the whole town takes part and some of the costumes are really stunning. The street parties carry on until the early morning.
But also outside fiesta time there is always enough going on in Vinaros as there are numerous bars and clubs that attract Spanish people from the whole province.
The local market (mercat) is excellent and opened daily, with fresh local fish, meat, cheeses, fruit and vegetables.
A lovely place to spend a summer evening or to go for a sunny winter lunch is the Vinaros Hermita, from where you have fantastic views of the whole coastline. They serve good Tapas and you can sit in the courtyard enjoying the views and the architecture.
